Due to the removal of the electronic scooters, Sun Cycle Bikeshare says they have seen an uptake in their ridership throughout the city.

The Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority reported their performance review for the first quarter of the Sun Cycle bike usage for the fiscal year 2024.

Their data shows an increase in e-bike ridership by 21% compared to last fiscal year's first quarter.

This increase was addressed during the Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority meeting last week January 10th by stating, "In fact, that increase was in December as well where we saw a 42% increase in ridership during December. This could be largely attributed to the removal or the disappearance of the scooters which are no longer operating in El Paso. So now we are the only micro-mobility game in town.”

The CRRMA is also expecting a $100,000 grant from the Texas Department of Transportation that will be put towards providing 40 brand-new e-bikes for the city as well as a new bike transportation station at Ascarate Park.
