Best jeans for women 2023: 30 best women

Finding the best jeans for women that actually suit your figure is no easy feat in 2023. Whether you're after a killer pair of Levi's jeans, an everyday Mom style or channelling this season's '70s trend with a lil' flared number, searching for that perfect fit can feel like a daunting task.

Plus, with the rise of internet shopping, we've all become averse to spending hours scouring the high street. News flash: we reckon your perfect denim dreams can be achieved while SFH (that's shopping from home, if you hadn't guessed). Because even though browsing IRL is fun, looking for jeans is not a chill task.

What's even worse than pounding pavements? The hot, stuffy and miserable experience of trying on hundreds of pairs of jeans, in the world's most unflattering lighting, in front of changing room mirrors. It's actually kinder to yourself to shop for denim online. You can have a trying-on sesh in the comfort of your own home, as well as testing several outfits options to see if they actually work with your wardrobe.

This is so personal to you, guys. We believe denim shopping is like, err, looking for your next rental flat: basically, it's stressful, will take ages and once you find 'the one' you have to act fast. Still, if you need pointing in the right direction, we'd recommend checking out & Other Stories and Topshop on the high street; designer brands like Mother Denim and Good American; as well as Mango for great curve options.

Again, totally personal – different jeans look good on different kinds of figures (more on that below). But if we could narrow it down to one or two, we think straight-leg jeans are an all-round winner and wide-leg flares look great on everyone... even petites, with the help of some great platform boots.

Erm, by trying on hundreds (we joke) of pairs? The best jeans for everybody are, ultimately, the ones that make you feel the most confident. Having said that, some trends do cater to certain body shape, so here's a quick low-down on how to find that all important comfy (and hella flattering) fit.

– If you've got bigger hips and thighs a stretchy straight-leg jean is what denim dream are made of. More structured than standard skinny jeans, this style will skim over any lumps and bumps and can easily be smartened up for casual days on the office or nights out.

– Straight-up-and-down gals, why not try the boyfriend fit? The more relaxed shape instantly adds curves and looks all kinds of laidback chic when styled with a cropped white tee.

– Petites, we deffo recommend trying the cropped kick-flare. The already shortened fit will hit your ankle at just the right spot – the last thing you wanna do is ruin your brand new jeans' hemline, are we right?

– And if you've been blessed with legs for days, a floor-sweeping wide-leg or flared style is a taller woman's best friend. Thanks to hit TV series Daisy Jones & The Six there are more 70's-inspired designs out there than ever.

The list goes on, so we've made life a little bit easier by rounding up our fave pairs for every size, shape and style. (FYI, there are 33, so you might as well go ahead and order a few). From Levi's boot-cut jeans and Free Peoples' cool-girl flares, to retro Mom jeans and the legendary skinny style fashion just can't shake off, these are the best jeans for women to shop in 2023.

If you've lost all faith in high street denim, check out River Island ASAP. The brand has a whole range of jean styles from skinny, to boot-cut and boyfriend. We love the subtle flare and cool grey wash on this high-waisted pair.

Barrel jeans are having a serious moment RN, and we're really here for it. We love how this pair from Free People is low-waisted for a real Noughties vibe.

It's tough to settle on the best jeans brand but we're gonna go for Mother right now. The denim label has made a name for itself thanks to its LA-cool-girl vibes and the bounty of stylish cuts it has on offer. Plus, Meghan Markle, Kourtney Kardashian and Kate Moss are fans – enough said.

We're SO excited to see that Mother has finally launched a petite range (aptly named Lil' Mother) for all those shorter gals 5"4 and under.

It's no secret that the denim industry is v. detrimental to the environment because of the amount water and chemicals used during jean production. Which is why we love to see brands like Dala doing its bit to become more sustainable – all the washes are low impact meaning that the brand has used less water and energy.

Monki is an absolute gem when it comes to denim shopping on the high street. Not only does it do allllll the cuts in allll the colours, it has a wide range of sizes too. The brand's Yoko style stays true to old-school jeans and is crafted without any stretch – this might sound scary, but actually means this pair will last you a lot longer. More bang for your buck? Sounds good to us.

These jeans aren't called the Favourite Cut for nothing. This '90s inspired slim-leg style is ultra-versatile and looks ace on so many figures. & Other Stories has balanced the close-fitting cut with a hint of stretch, so these are chic and comfy all at the same time.

The denim style the fashion world is most obsessed with these days is the straight leg. So if you're keen to keep up, invest ASAP. Baukjen's mid-rise pair is cut for a close-but-not-too-close fit and hits just above the ankle – perfect for showing off a sassy pair of boots.

Mom jeans, from M&S? Hear us out: while selvedge denim is cool AF, it also just happens to be a bit rigid for everyday WFH life. This pair is woven with a hint of stretch instead – we knew we could rely on the legendary department store to keep us feeling comfy.

Jigsaw does what we like to call grown-up denim. The fit on these babies are beaut: a wide flared leg with floor-sweeping hems and and flattering high-rise waistband.

Does it get more classic than a pair of Levi's 501s? We think not. Grab these iconic jeans now while they are a ridiculous 55% off.

Amazon has ALL the OG jean brands on its site, including American label Wrangler. We love the straight cut on this pair. Plus, the turn-up design on the hems means you can customise the length. Nifty.

This pair from OG jean brand G-Star Raw caught our eye straight away – the subtle bootcut silhouette is great for elongating your legs.

You can't really go wrong with a pair of skinny black jeans – they are seriously the definition of versatile. We'll be wearing this style from Levi's with OTT sequin tops this party szn.

Topshop's Editor jeans took the high street by storm in 2018; after their release, the retailer could barely keep the style in stock. It's not hard to see why – with the demise of the skinny, we're all in search of something streamlined to wear with everyday outfits. Our fave Brit brand as we know it might have shuttered (sob), but luckily ASOS has swooped in to save the day. However, we can't predict what changes are afoot so we suggest you stock up on all of the Editor jeans left on the site immediately.

Weekday is such a great place to go for denim; the high street brand has a knack for making its jeans look way more expensive than they actually are. We love this mid-rise style that hugs the hips and bum but drops to a less skinny straight shape through the leg. Oh, and did we mention? This pair is made entirely from organic and recycled cotton.

We've written about the #Midsize community, so we're pleased to see Everlane creating jeans specifically designed for bigger hips and thighs. If you love the '90s straight-leg denim trend but find these jeans look TOTALLY different on you to the model, you'll love Everlane's pair made with curves in mind.

We love a bootcut flare – you know, the jeans that are cut slim on the thigh and kick out below the knee? We think Mango's would look GREAT with cowboy boots or jazzed up with a sheer blouse and killer heels.

The person who said you can't lounge around in jeans clearly hadn't tried these beauties from Superdry. Not only are they crafted from a soft organic cotton, they also have a low-rise waist and '90s style, boyfriend fit. The wide-leg is cleverly designed to puddle around your sneaks, too.

Cropped hemlines are perfect for showcasing party heels or cool trainers. Stories' Treasure jeans have a comfy high-rise waistline and subtle flare hems that nod to '70s shapes of the past. Wear 'em now with pleasant blouses, then switch to a roll-neck and high-cut ankle boots come autumn.

We're obsessed with H&M's super inclusive denim collection that spans from XXS to 4XL – pretty impressive if you ask us. What's more, this timeless skinny style comes in seven different washes including black and bleached blue.
