“Who would ever steal a handicap person's ramp?” D.J. Martin’s father, Darius Martin, said.

D.J. has been wheelchair-bound most of his young life and uses the wheelchair ramp daily, but now he needs his father to pick him up to get on and off the front porch.

“I just usually use the ramp but somebody took it. Whoever took it, I just want them to return it,” D.J. said.

His family said D.J. is in and out of their Price Hill home constantly for school and sports. They now have to rearrange their schedules until they can get a new ramp, but buying one won’t be easy.

Martin said one will cost the family about $500, and he believes the person who took his son’s aluminum ramp more than likely took it for scrap metal.

“It's pretty heavy, so they're going to get a pretty penny off of it, but it's not worth my son not being able to get out of the house,” Martin said.

The Martins filed a report with the Cincinnati police, and they also hope the person who took it will simply return it.

Officers said they don't have any suspects. Anyone who knows who took the ramp was asked to call Cincinnati police.

WLWT was inundated with requests to help D.J. get a new ramp after the story aired on WLWT News 5 at 11 p.m.

WLWT News 5's Alison Montoya will be following up on this story Friday.
